NHS OC Events
NHS OC does more than put people in a house. It provides a number of
programs that help residents create a stronger, more vibrant
neighborhood. These programs have helped homeowners improve their
homes and neighborhoods and ultimately the quality of residents'
lives.
The main focus of our programs is to help low and moderate income
families achieve of their primary goals in life . . . to purchase
their own home. Each new homeowner becomes a stakeholder in the
community. Homeowners take care of their properties, are eager to
improve their neighborhoods, and to participate in their community
and its government. The investment in their homes helps stimulate
the economy, and, more importantly, home ownership is a strong
foundation for families. A home is a special place to raise
children, establish social and educational networks, and contribute
to the community.
Through its local advisory boards, NHS OC sponsors neighborhood
festivals, home safety events and street fairs. These events draw on
a variety of community
resources including residents, neighborhood schools, fire and police
departments, other non-profit organizations, insurance
representatives and local businesses to make the events successful.
These events help define neighborhoods and are a catalyst for
residents to get acquainted and work together on common goals.
